Although this site is dedicated
to MGs we do race other cars. We like nothing better
than to see a F*!d hurtling down the 16' straight
at full pelt, leaping over the crash barrier, launching
its self on a 30' flight down the driveway where
it lands on the concrete shattering the body in
to a million pieces. We get lots of replacement
chassis this way!
Seriously we will model any type of
car so here will appear any we consider interesting
enough to show. There is a F*!d so we must
like them really.

This car is based on the
Scalextric Lotus 7 and is more than simply painting
a yellow nose. All of the interior has been repainted
to include the coloured piping. The dashboard has
had some corrections done to the switches. No. 6 has
the head of a Scalextric pit crew member mounted onto
the original driver's body. His Village blazer, scarf
and trousers were modeled in Milliput to hide the
checkered overalls detailing. His arms were left as
they were to allow them to bend out for the larger
and more realistic steering wheel that has been fitted.
The cars front suspension and headlamp supports are
not correct. After cutting off the indicators, I painted
them black so that the errors wouldn't be so noticeable

The indicators were fitted to the rear
mudguard and the brake lights turned on their sides. The
final correction to the rear was the strap used to
hold the spare wheel on. |

The kit was found in a bits box, with
no instructions or picture. It is thought that Bob
bought it in a sale in this condition thinking that
it was a Cadillac and dumped it when he discovered
his mistake. The car is built as a tribute to him
|
|
It uses the Porsche 962 chassis with
narrower wheels at the back. The tyres are thin
so the wheels were given a solid white disc center
which give the appearance of the white walls which
were painted on the kit tyres used at the front.
They could do with a chrome center as more of the
wheel is showing than was planned. The car
has been built without any modifications other than
to remove the sun visors from the window frame.
The front seats needed a small part cut out to fit
round the motor. Once painted in red and white stripes,
like the seats, the motor isn't that obvious. The
driver is a modified Scalextric spectator, the one
waving the book above her head.

Having built the car a trip to the shops
for a proper Cadillac pink was made only to return
with a fluorescent pink. This led to comments about
Barbie's car, hence the driver figure and the B on
the head rests. |

This car was made in 1993
by SCX and is model No.7307 Buggy 'ESSO'. It has 4-wheel
drive, working coil spring suspension and the guide
and pick-up are on a drop down arm. |
 |
 |
The intention was that
the car could be driven over obstacles including the
special track that was sold at the time. I have not
seen it go over a Mini's bonnet but the guide is still
in full contact with the power rail. |
