MG Maestro 1600

This Body shell had been painted very heavily in red paint. I removed the paint with nail polish remover

There were no fittings for this or some of the other cars so I made a rubber mould of the spoiler, front grill and rear lights and also the wheel hubs after cutting the rim off. The resin I am using is not totally clear but give a reasonable representation of the headlights. Resin is expensive for me but when I need more I will consider a clear one and replace the headlights
As the side lights are solid plastic and the rears need tinting red, painted headlights are not a problem anyway.

The backs of the cast hubs were sanded flat and glued into Metro hubs to give a more accurate representation of the true Maestro wheel than the Scalextric version.

The chassis has been modified to lower the body height.

The model is based on an early Maestro shown in a clipping I have from a TV magazine from the time of the car's launch. The car is pictured with Aneka Rice, who I understand was a popular presenter at the time (Treasure Hunt?) .

The body has been sprayed with a blue tinged silver, with matt black trim and home made decal badges. After a protective coat of Halford's clear the black was repainted to return the matt finish.
