Unseen UniversityThe Wizards And Co.The main wizard characters are Clarecraft figures and the rest were created from a small collection of other manufacturer's wizard figures that I had. I simply chose a figure that best suited the general image of a wizard: they are fat, wealth in years and waistline and tend to roll well or are padded enough to bounce, their robes are decorated with sequins, sigils, fur and lace; and the limited discriptions of each of the faculty that I had. Paul Kidby's drawing have them in Tudor inspired costumes.There are a number of other figures in this series yet to do, the most notable being Ponder Stibbons. I have not found any comercial figure that looks anything like I think he should so I expect that having successfully sculpted all the Watch trolls, Stibbons will be my first venture in to doing a true 28mm figure. Other characters that will be done eventually include: McAbre the Head Bledlow and some of his staff, the Professor of Cruel and Unusual Geography (before he was eaten (a post now held by the outstandingly bad Rincewind. TLH)), Mrs Whitlow and her staff, Ksandra and Dolly; and Hex. The official, all-wool, 72"x10" scarf of Unseen University has longitudinal stripes -- a broad crimson stripe along either edge; a broad navy stripe down the centre. The broad stripes are separated by two groups of three narrow stripes - yellow/purple/yellow. At one end of the scarf is embroidered in colour the UU crest. I did plan to give each wizard a scarf but in the end I just used its colours as a theme when painting them. |
