I had difficulty in imagining Sally as anything other than a traditional vampire. I tried a number of different figures to start modeling from but they didn't look right. In the end I started with a Vampire Lady from Heresy Miniatures. This is first time I have used their figures and I'm very pleased with the design and casting. It came as a multi-part kit, so I didn't have to behead her to put a short haired head on. Hands with and without weapons were also separate. Besides adding the head, I re-sculpted the hair and original breast plate, sculpted the short cloak, dustpan and brush, and added the helmet and spear. To justify this version of Sally, it is set a short
time after Thud and the costume has evolved from
her experiences in the book. To protect her from
the sun the helmet has a wide leather brim, she
has long sleeves and gloves. Her dress is long but
based on that loaned by the Pink PussyCat Club.
It has a split up the side to aid movement and a
specially made pair of sturdy high-heeled boots.
Vimes cannot object as Littlebottom has been wearing
high heels for some time, and anyway he knows that
if needs be she can fly. Now due to her 'friendship'
with Angua, Angua's armourer has created a breastplate
for her that has given her a more feminine profile. |

Design Notes
Sally
Aged 51 which is no age for a vampire, would pass as 16. Has short hair and could pass for a boy. Shoe size 41/2. Stronger than all but a troll, punched a hole in a cellar wall with one blow, mortar was loose though. Excellent night vision and plays the cello. Can turn into 155 bats - its easier than just one but unlike male vampires, females cannot rematerialise in their clothes. Long sleeves and wide brim for day time duties and a resurrection kit (small dust pan and brush, phial of animal blood and instruction card p53. Shiny new breast plate and soup bowl helmet. Can extend canines. Pink PussyCat Club loaned Sally something simple in blue, which was cut to the thigh and looked fabulous with 6" heels.(T)
I have not been able to model for some time now, and during this period the Clarecraft factory has sadly closed down. It was a commission to paint some of Clarecraft's pewter miniatures which lead to me reading my first Discworld novel, and consequently a short project to make and paint the full Night Watch, all four of them! Now 50 plus characters later its still not finished.
As it is about a year since I last made a figure, Sally hopefully being a return to my quest, I have decided to dedicated this model to all those who worked at or have been involved with Clarecraft for the few years of pleasure I have had from creating this website, and for the many more years of enjoyment they have given to countless collectors of their products.
