| I used the same Games Workshop Empire
guard with halberd for both models so that the figures
would have the same face. For the Watch I left the
original figures fancy jacket with slashed sleeves
and knee bows as I think that Reg would have taken
the opportunity when going through the armoury for
his uniform to smarten himself up. The hat originally
had a large feather in it but this was cut off. I
made a cut with a knife under his chin to open up
a little space to model his neck so that the stitch
marks could be depicted and also added a nail (piece
of wire) to an ear. Read Night Watch - my thoughts
about Reg might be correct.
I fixed a spare crossbow to his back, after adding
a fuse wire bow string. His breast plate and the
strap for the crossbow were sculptured in milliput.
When dry an arrow from Games Workshop's plastic
skeletons was cut in half and fixed in a hole drilled
through his body. An alternative way of making your
own arrows is to us a headless pin and super glue
on feathers cut from plastic card.

For the Fresh Start Club I removed
the arms with a razor saw and then cut and filed off
the remaining fancy detailing from his clothes. New
arms were obtained from figures in my spares box.
The edges of his clothes were then made to look ragged
with milliput. I cut off his hat and built up his
head and hair using Paul Kidby's drawings as a reference.
As pictures of Reg show him wide eyed I filed off
the eye detail on both faces to allow big round eyes
to be painted.
In one hand he holds a wooden protest board
made from strips of wood and in the other a tin of paint
and a brush carved out of plastic and wire.

Design Notes
Reginald Shoe
Reg is a natural zombie rather than one who has been
created using magic. He originally ran the Fresh Start
Club. He worked in Elm St Mortuary and lives at Mrs Cakes.
Pallid grey skin, with a tint of green, stitch marks around
his neck and on his hands and wrists, brown teeth. Clothes
in rags as if cut by razors. Badge "Glad to be Grey".
Carries a paint tin and brush in pocket to paint slogans
on walls "Dead Yes! Gone No!" also has a portable
podium. Plays guitar and sings protest songs but has to
crawl around on floor afterwards to find his fingers.
Saluting hand and fingers were held together with stiching
when on active service in Borogravia.
Joined the Watch after he complained about Watchmen harassing
some bogeymen, and was persuaded by Carrot that what the Watch
really needed was some expertise. Since he joined up there have
been twice as many complaints, all from the undead, and all
against Mr Shoe. Has a female pigeon named Zebedinah
In Jingo he had an arrow through his breastplate and him and
had to nail his ear back on after a battle. He was armed with a
crossbow.
On 25th May had a whole bouquet of lilac tied to his helmet.
He still maintains his grave, sometimes with the use of a
long handled shovel.
