Constable Flint & Probationary
Constable Buggy Swires
Constable
Flint

 |
| Flint is all milliput with a Games Workshop
dwarf helmet. He is modelled inspecting a strange
white substance held in a bag in his hand. Buggy his
partner has not noticed this yet as he has been distracted
and is pointing at something away to the right. I
tried to model Flint's face on the Paul Kidby drawing.

Probationary
Constable Buggy Swires
 |
The picture in the Watch Diary shows
him with small paper knife sword and badge which is
as big if not bigger than him strapped to his back.
He is only 5" tall. Buggy is based on a Games
Workshop Epic figure and is positioned on Flint's
back. |

Design Notes
Constable Flint
There is a suggestion that a Troll called Galena, aka Rock
or Cliffe during his career in moving pictures, later changed
his name to Flint and is the same Flint recorded as being
in the Watch.
He is 7 foot tall with pointed ears, granite colour
with nose like mans first attempt at an axe and fist the
size and hardness of a foundation stone. Armed with a
club with a nail in it. His practice of ascertaining what
a substance is by dipping a finger in it and then tasting
it lead to him spending 3 days tied to his bed after he
tried this on a black-market consignment of ammonium chloride
cut with radium.
He is often partnered with Buggy.
Constable Buggy Swires
A little lump of a gnome 6" tall, high in pent-up
aggression. Inspires respect or at least the bladder trembling
terror that can pass for respect. He has an adapted small paper
knife sword, the standard weapon of a gnome officer. When it rains Buggy fashions himself a mackintosh
out of a Stonkie with a pair of scissors (Read the book
for a fuller explanation). When first encountered Buggy
was sitting on Flint's head and I assumed that he patrolled
perched on the troll's shoulders, but when patrolling
with Visit it appears that he walked. In Jingo he is attached
to the Chitterling Street Station.
By the time of the Night Watch Corporal Buggy has taken
to using birds to help with his duties. A sparrow hawk
was better to help with traffic duties as it can hover.
When required to set up an observation point on the top
of the Tower of Art he uses a heron to carry himself and
his equipment, which includes a tiny telescope in the
herons saddlebags and a portable semaphore (Littlebottom
uses a telescope to be able to see his messages. The heron
(and presumably the hawk) has a string harness which he
holds and grips the bird with his knees. Buggy caught
the heron by painting himself green like a frog and hiding
in the marshes croaking. When the heron tried to eat him
he climbed up its beak and knutted it.
Buggy had secretly installed posts that the portable
semaphore arms slotted into on the Tower a few weeks ago.
The floor of the tower is covered in the compost of ivy
leaves and old raven nests. He strapped the telescope
to the edge of a stone. While on the Tower of Arts the
12 ravens that live there kept interrupting him by asking
what was happening (they can talk due to all the magic
around them), and even took cover with him and the heron
in an ivy hung arch between two turrets when hailstones
as big as his head fell. P35
