Witches

Old Mother Dismass - useless sibyl. Clothes had disarry of someone who because of a detached retina in her second sightwas living in a variety of times all at once. Mental confusion is bad enough in normal people but worse when the mind has an occult twist. Hopefully it is only her underwear she was wearing on the outside.

Grammer Bevis - old woman school teacher, always reasonable. Grammer Beavis Witches hat has a very flat brim and a point you could clean your ears with. Over educated but does her own shoe repairs and takes snuff.

Letice Earwig - decent, well meaning and kind, at least to less aggresssive animals and cleaner children. Would do you a good turn if if it wasn't good for you. Married to a retired wizzard who had a suspiciously large amount of gold. Wore a black velvet cloak and skirt. She had a velvet hat bought from Boggis's in A-M with hat pins with crescents and cat shapes. According to Nanny, Letice has floppy jowls, over fussy hair and a silly way of waggling her hands when talking.

Nanny Annaple - lost all teeth by the age of 20. Face so warty it looked like a sock full of marbles. Lives over the mountains from Bad Ass with a billy goat (traditional animal for a witch). (picture 19/1/2000)

Black Aliss    Demurrage- said to be the greatest witch who ever lived.Lived near forest of Skund. Best known exploits involved turning a pumpkin into a royal coach, sending a place to sleep for a 100 years. Had a sweet tooth, black teeth and fingernails gave nickname, and used to live in a real gingerbread house. Died after a couple of kids pushed her inti her own oven. (picture 2/2/2000)

Diamanda - skinny 17 years old, real name Lucy Tockley. Has black painted nails, wears black lace and a floppy black velvet hat with a veil and strated her own coven.

Witches Trial - Bunting in terrible bright coloured loops which someone had managed to be unable to cut into triangles from old clothing, some even still had collars on. A large platter piled high of cakes that looked like cows had eaten a lot of rasins and then been ill. Jam in a large pot with solidified purple lava that needed a hammer to get a spoon in. One pot had been made into a game with a sign by it "Get Thee fpoon out of thee Jar. 3 tries for A Penney!!!". The Trials for the witches included; the witch with the pointiest hat, Broomstick dressage and Unlucky Charlie - cusing a scarecrow. Granny once made his head explode. The dwarf Zakzak Stronginthearm was one of the stall holders there. He is a maker and purveyor of occult knicknackery and protective herbs. One sign was "Lucky Horseshoes $2 each". This year the lucky dip big tub of bran with rag dolls and soldiers was manned by Granny who sat alone behind it, a small pink shape with a lace collar.

Witch boots by Josh with heel curving out at the bottom, 3 silver balls each side for the lacesand a petal effect around the ankle hole. Black with tan soles.

Hodgesarrgh the falconer needs full plate armour to go near King Henry the eagle.King Henry can pick him up and drop him like a tortoise. William the buzzard thinks she is a chicken. His normal costume is working leathers and 3 sticking plasters. Official costume is one designed for someone 2" taller and has a lot of red and gold with red stockings, big red floppy hat with a feather in it designed 200 years ago. When hunting the phoenix had a portable wire cage, a glove that was basically a puppet of yellow cloth and some purple and blue rags tacked on. meat, mothballs and a pint of fish oil for bait. Adapted duck lure/call. Donkey laden with falconry gear with a hooded King Henry perched on its back. Puppet with ostrich like head and neck in violet and yellow. Head with huge ruff of red and purple feathers with one tartan feather, and two big round eyes which jiggled drunkenly. Tube whistle duck call. Knapsack.

Phoenix - pictures suggested a hawk like bird of silver grey. shell fragments were found in the ashes. It disguised itself as a Lancre Wowhawk and a Lappet-faced worrier.

Mrs Scorbie the cook in white dress, white apron and big white mop cap. Permanently angry, huge pink brow and "plenty of meals on her look". White bandage around her throat.

Lancre Border Post has black and yellow striped poles. Maned by Big Jim Beef a troll with helmet attached to his head with string. A stamp carved from half a potatoe in the shape of a duck is used to stamp passports or any piece of paper a traveller is carring. A paint soaked rag is used to ink it.

Quite Reverend Mightly-Praiseworthy-Are-Ye-Who-Exalteth-Om Oates. - complicated clerical collar starched stiff as a razor. Gleaming holy turtle pendant of figure trused accross the back of a turtle. Finely printed graduation copy of the Book Of Om. Shoes, black robe ended at knees, grey socks and sandals. Hat with a tiny crown and big brim. Not very old witha rather ripe boil beside his nose. Small black book in his pocket. Black and white clothing so looked like a magpie. pamphlets, notebooks. Jacket. Small grey tent inexpertly pitched. Wind torn posters pinned on easel outside "GOODNEWS! Om Welcomes You!!!". Portable harmonium, songbooks and campbed. Has a mule

Elves from LL

Warriors were dressed in scraps of fur with bronze plates and strings of brightly coloured feathers. Blue and green tattoos cover most of the exposed skin. Hair matted around their heads like a halo thick with grease. Beautiful faces with black eyes. Elves fear iron so are armed with bows with stone tipped arrows, thin bronze daggers and long copper knifes.
They killed the poacher William Scrape at the Dancers. He was a tall man with a beard and one leg longer than the other.
Dancers - A group of eight red rocks that have been dragged into a circle in no significant way. The center always appears to be further away than it is and the climate is different. i.e. rain can start inside a few minutes later than it did outside, it has also been known to snow inside during midsummer. Stones about man height and barely thicker than a fat man, made of thunderbolt iron. Three of the stones are called the Piper, the Drummer and the Leaper. They also form a barrier to the world of the elves,

DEATH

Mrs Renata Flitworth - Skinny, short sighted 75 year old woman with a face the colour and texture of a walnut. Wore slippers.

Cyril - Ancient myopic cockeral with poor memory and dyslexia. Lives with elderly chickens and Nancy the pig.

Lago Peavie - Farming neighbour and first man to use a Combine Harvester (RM p171/2 & 191).

Ned Simnel - Young man with black curly hair and face, shirt and apron black with soot and dirt. Blacksmith who built the Combine Harvester.

William Spigot - Old farm worker who helps Mrs F at harvest time. Has skin like leather. Folk singer and fiddle player.

Undead

Mr John not-a-vampire-at-all Smith - pipe in mouth, wearing badly knitted pullover with queasy zigzag pattern in many strange unhappy colours. President of Ankh-Morpork Mission of the Uberwald League of Temperance (members known as black ribboners ) sweat on face and permanent smile - finding pledge hard going. Collects bananas and makes models of human organs out of matchsticks because he thinks hobbies make you more human.

Count Notfaroutoe - Arthur Winkings - Vampire by inheritance i.e. title, ruined castle and he believes in vampirism. Small dumpy man with a worried grin. Wears opera/evening dress several sizes too big for him with a cloak and a collapsible Opera hat that looks like a concertina. Face a mass of small cuts as it is difficult to shave without a mirror. Has an orthopaedic coffin, it is filled with gravel. Turns into a small fat bat.

Countess Notfaroutoe - Doreen Winkings - Treasurer of Ankh-Morpork Mission of the Uberwald League of Temperance. Not a vampire but married to one and acts like one. While most members try to act human Doreen trys to act like a Vampire. Born in Cockbill St. her mother was a washer woman. Small dumpy, basically pear shaped, amiable with long dark hair cut into a widows peak. Very pallid makeup, figure hugging black dress. Nature had intended her to be small and plump with frizzy hair and hearty complexion. Pink stubby hands. Her fake pointy teeth rattle when she talks.

The Notfaroutoes had a 4 room terrace house at 14 Masons Road with crypt, vault, torture chamber, dining room with dribbling candles and a painting with moving eyes, secret passage an organ so big they had to knock a hole in the parlour ceiling for it, laboratory and a moat. The house fell down when they removed the last load bearing wall to install an Iron Maidenette. They now live with Mrs Cake.

Mrs Drull (and Gorper?) - Vague shy old lady in shapeless grey dress. Retired ghoul now does children's parties. Lives at Mrs Cakes.

Mrs Evadna Cake - Has a house in Elm St. that she has openned as a lodging house to those of a nocturnal or fur growing persuasion. A medium, verging on small and fat. Short almost circular. Squat and short sighted. In spite of being small looms because of her huge black hat which is covered with stuffed birds, wax cherries and other fruits and other decorative items, all of which are painted black, as are the hat pins to hold it on. Travels under the hat like a basket under a balloon carring a large handbag. Has a crystal ball with a hessian cover on a stand.

One Man Bucket - Mrs Cake's spirit guide. Member of a Howondaland tribe, run over by a cart in Treacle Street while drunk.

Ludmilla Cake - daughter of Evadna. Is a werewolf. When human is larger than normal so walks slightly crouched. Has slightly pointed ears and white teeth and the magnificent hair which crowns her head flows out behind like a cloak.

Shlimazel the bogeyman huge hairy hand and wrinkled forehead. Hogfather P77 in Biers Bar

GODS

The Lady k/A Luck, The Goddess Who Must Not Be Named - beautiful with bright green eyes, like fresh emeralds and iridescent as a dragonfly. Can change her appearance, as can all Gods, but not that of her eyes.

Bilious the God of Hangovers - The Oh God. Young with lank curly hair with a little crown made of vine leaves and small green and purple imp sat on head amid his curls holding a mallet. Dressed in a stained and wretched long white toga/robe which shows his calves. Always felt as if he had a hangover and had little pink elephant coming out of his ears and flying around his head. Island God of Evolution - bald head with long white beard, hugh white eyebrows which met like an angry caterpiller. He was dressed in a long white robe like a night shirt. Three foot high. Has a runny nose so borrows Ponders initialled handkerchief. A little plant with nondiscript yellow flower grew near to him, its fruit pod contained a fresh white handkie bunched up like a little chrysanthemum. God used it then crumpled it up and dropped on the ground.

Eater of Socks - like a very small elephant with a very wide flared trunk up which socks disappeared. (picture 16/9/2000)

Towel Wasps - towel with the suggestion on many tiny wings.

Pencil Eater - very puzzled bird with odd shaped beak. Perches and whirs away reducing pencils to stubs. Small enough to hop onto a finger. (picture 4/11/2000)

Miss Smith the Cheerful Fairy - short plump 14 stone dressed in tweed skirt, sensible saggy woolly cardigan with buttons and shapeless sleeves with balled handkerchief in, and sensible shoes. Looked like a first year teacher with abright little smile, a whistle on a string round her neck and the impression that at any moment she would clap her hands. tiny gauzy wings just visable on her back probably just for show. The Blue Bird of Happiness ( a blue chicken) sat on her shoulder.

Auditors - spectres with no eyes or mouth visible in in a grey robe with hood that appears to be occupied. Unnatural shading in the folds of the cloak.

Verruca Gnome - fairy - tiny hunched figure in stained black suitwith bowler or derby hat pressed firmly down forcing long pointed ears out sideways like a small malignent wingnut.Big nosed face, a grubby figure with a bulging sack behind its stubby body. Pointy boots with tarnished bells on the tips. Britches. (picture 2/12/2000)

Violet the tooth Fairy wears the blue ribbon of Offler's League of Temperance.

Scissor Man thing like a lot of blades clicking together. Not man shaped, more like an ostrich and something like a lizard on its hind legs. Every time it moved a thousand blades went snip-snip. Long silver neck and head made of shears.

Model ideas (items I am planning to make plus corrections to finished models) :-

1) Model - tiny glass globes with little snow flakes falling on models of the university, tower of arts, brass bridge, patricians palace etc. with writing on the bottom (RM p66) (To Mr Bernard Pearson Esq - if you are reading this, I thought of this idea many years ago but I don't have the technology to make it happen. I expect you have so I would be grateful for one of the first that you produce if you take up my idea.)

The three witches are basically medievil peasant, Nanny, Victorian, Granny, and new age, Magrat.

Diorama of the three witches based on the painting by Josh Kirby. Done on an oval base. Main area, also oval and raised has the three witches meeting with cauldron, tea cups kettle etc (Must read book again) with the gnarled windswept tree with owl and hiding stone to the rear. Add pumpkins and red with white dot toadstools as painting, Magrats tortoise. At base level create small path with Agnes waiting to take over from Magrat and Greebo on a ledge between path and main area so hes there but not part of either.
