Constable Dorfl

Dorfl
Dorfl
This figure is made of (self hardening) clay - what else! He is old and has been remade over the years losing his human shape so no worries about inexperienced modelling skills. He has a groove round his head for the flip up lid and a small helmet. He retains his slate slung over his shoulder and also has his pet goat on a lead.

The goat came from a company called Hovels who produce building for wargamers and a small selection of farm animals in 25mm scale.

Design Notes

Constable Dorfl

Golems are created by priest or holy men from clay and animated by a spell or holy word which is written on a yellowing scroll and kept in the space under the lid on their heads. None have been built for over a thousand years. They are ceramic, fireproof and rock hard. Detritus's crossbow bolt bounced of the new golem in FoC.

Dorfl is therefore very old. He is troll sized but was originally made to look human. His original human shape had showed musculature but repairs nearly obscured these. Dark terracotta colour now mottled where this fresh clay and a new foot had been added over the years. His nose appears to have been missing. He walked dragging a foot and lurched due to one leg being shorter than the other. He now looked hand made with the odd thumb print. His hands are the size of shovels and triangular eyes glowed dark red. Taller than a door and strong enough to tear a troll in half. In Thud lifted a troll up bodily and bounced it on its head.

He had a slate slung over his shoulder on a piece of string with a pencil hooked on, a large, hairy and smelly goat on a string and a long heavy cleaver when working in the slaughter house.

Dorfl decided to join the Watch, where his only clothing is a helmet, after he was given to himself by Carrot in FOC.

In SM a Golem called Dorfl was a butcher by trade and lived in Long Hogmeat. This may have been an early reference to this character.
