Buildings

The Models

I have completed two buildings so far. The Mended Drum was the first in which I made a number of mistakes and Granny's House where I corrected the original errors and made a few new ones.

Both buildings are built in a relief style which allows them to be displayed on a shelf. This saves space and also means that is no need for any one to touch them to see round the back. I used parts of old cupboard drawers as their bases. The drawer provided a solid wooden base and the start of a back wall that was 90' vertical. It saved me a lot of marking out and only needed a few accurate saw cuts. (I am useless at woodwork).

If you worried about the windows in the Drum not appearing to be on the correct levels, dwarfs turned two storey houses into three with an extra floor and a patchwork of windows, so it must be the dwarf wing.
